DC's Titans TV show trailer introduces a very different, very violent Robin

Friday 20 July 2018

The first look at Titans, the first original scripted series for DC's new streaming service, has finally dropped – and brought with it a much darker Dick Grayson.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge star Brenton Thwaites stars as the new Boy Wonder (aka Nightwing), but it isn't long before he shows how willing he is to break away from Batman by getting caught up in a very violent bad-guy takedown and shocking everyone with his reaction to the mention of his former mentor.

"Where's Batman?" one bad guy asks as Thwaites' Robin drops in and launches into a very brutal fight scene. "F**k Batman," he replies.

And, going by reactions on social media, it seems this more violent, potty-mouthed side to Dick Grayson has come as a bit of a surprise to many.

Here is the Trailer:

The Titans TV series follows a grown-up Dick Grayson as he becomes embroiled in a conspiracy along with a young girl called Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft), who's possessed by a strange darkness.

To stop the plot that threatens the entire planet, Dick and Rachel join forces with alien princess Koriand'r / Starfire (Anna Diop) and shape-shifting Garfield Logan / Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) to form an all-new superhero team known as the Titans.

Along with the trailer, DC also confirmed the cost of its new streaming service, with fans able to pre-order the app now with a yearly membership fee of $74.99, or $7.99 a month.

Titans, which will be overseen by Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti, will premiere on DC Universe later this year, with Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing following in 2019.

'Shadowhunters': Freeform Clarifies Release Date of Final Episodes

Tuesday 26 June 2018

Fans of Freeform's Shadowhunters have a bit of a wait for the second half of the third and final season of the series.

TV Line reports that, according to Freeform, the final episodes of Shadowhunters will not air until sometime in Spring 2019. This update clarifies a mid-August date that had been circulating for the premiere of Season 3B.

This news may be a little disappointing for fans as the series went on midseason hiatus back in May. The series' second season had a three-month break between the first and second halves, but with a Spring 2019 date they could be waiting almost a year to find out not only what comes next in Season 3, but how the series will close out. While no reason was given for the delay between season halves, it's likely that it's to allow the show time to work out how they want to wrap up the show.

It was announced earlier this month that Shadowhunters would be ending its run after three seasons. While the fan has a devoted fan base and the network indicated that they have been pleased with the show creatively, the decision to cancel it came down to economic reasons. Constantin Film, which co-produces Shadowhunters with Freeform, lost their output deal with Netflix and had asked Freeform for an increased investment, something that the network just couldn't make work.

"We went back and forth with them but ultimately we just couldn't make the economics work," network EVP of Programming and Development Karey Burke told Deadline. "We were very happy creatively with it."

As Constantin Film lost the deal with Netflix, Shadowhunters was pulled form that streaming service but has been available on Hulu, though recently information was released that indicated that Season 3A of the series would be leaving the streaming service early -- before Season 3B even debuted. However, TV Line confirmed that that was an error and that Season 3A is not leaving Hulu at this time.

However, even with the promise of a proper series wrap-up on Freeform, fans of the series aren't giving up on the hope of saving the show. Fans have been vocal online with a "#SaveShadowhunters" social media campaign as well as a charity fundraiser to help convince another network or streaming service to pick up the show. While, thus far, there's been no news of anyone interested in picking up Shadowhunters, series star Katherine McNamara told fans at Oz Comic-Con that when the show does return for its final episodes, they will be "amazing".

"If the [hashtags] make a difference, amazing, if not, we've got 10 more amazing episodes and we're going to shoot the most kick-ss finale you've ever seen," McNamara said.

What do you think about this update on when to expect Shadowhunters Season 3B? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Black Lightning season 2 air date confirmed

Monday 25 June 2018

t's always nice when a show gets renewed before it finishes its run, and that's exactly what happened with Black Lightning. The CW did the right thing by renewing what might just be their best superhero show, and confirmed that Black Lightning season 2 is a go. The good news came alongside renewals for the CW's entire superhero slate, as well as other stalwarts in the lineup.

We now have an air date for the second season - 9th October, stateside. We'd hope that Netflix UK will continue to stream the series over here shortly after it airs in the US, and we'll bring you confirmation on that as soon as we can.

Hopefully Black Lightning season 2 follows the model of season one, with fewer episodes than most of the other superhero shows (it's about quality not quantity)!

Black Lightning season 2 air date
The CW will start airing season 2 of Black Lightning on 9th October. Netflix UK should follow suit, a few days later. We'll update you on that when the info becomes available.

International Television Distribution. The first series of the show will air later this year.

Taking place on Superman’s home world two generations before its destruction, “Krypton” stars Cameron Cuffe as Superman’s grandfather Seg-El. With the planet’s leadership in chaos and the House of El ostracized, Seg faces a life-and-death conflict to redeem his family’s honor and prevent an insidious plot to change the past and prevent the birth of his grandson.

Shaun Sipos, Blake Ritson, Georgina Campbell, Wallis Day and Ian McElhinney also star in the show, which was the first production to be shot in the new Belfast Harbour Studios. “Sherlock” actor Rupert Graves and “Ray Donovan” star Paula Malcomson also feature in guest roles.

Luke Cage's new villain Mustafa Shakir auditioned to play Black Lightning and Black Panther's M'Baku

Monday 18 June 2018

He's finally landed what he calls a "dream role" on Marvel's Luke Cage, but actor Mustafa Shakir has admitted it felt as though "the doors were closing" on his hopes of playing a comic book character after a series of unsuccessful auditions.

Shakir will play Bushmaster, a formidable new opponent for Luke (Mike Colter) in the second season of the Netflix series. But he was also previously considered for the first season's antagonist Cottonmouth (eventually portrayed by Mahershala Ali).

"I couldn't do it because I was under contract with another show, Quarry – they held me forever," the actor revealed to Digital Spy.

"It's hard to see Cottonmouth as anybody else now. Mahershala did his thing and I'm glad that he did, because Bushmaster is more my speed in fact. It incorporates a lot more of my abilities, and so that's fun."

Whereas Cottonmouth was an intellectual threat, the 'enhanced' Bushmaster combines both brains and brawn.

"I'm a really physical dude as it is," Shakir said. "I've fought quite a bit in my life. I grew up in Harlem in the '80s and '90s. If you don't fight, you don't live. I fought a lot."

Born in the South, Shakir and his family arrived in New York when he was 11 months old. After six years in the Bronx, he came to Harlem aged seven, and says that Luke Cage does "a great job" of portraying the neighbourhood on screen.

"It's a slant on it, of course – there's so many other dynamics to Harlem, but that sort of nostalgic view that we have of Harlem with the brownstones and kids playing out on the sidewalk... totally, it captures that. It captures that so much."

Shakir's close call with Cottonmouth wasn't his only previous brush with potential superhero stardom. He also auditioned for the lead in The CW's series Black Lightning, a role that Cress Williams ended up booking.

"I usually don't, but I campaigned for it. I was pretty sure I was going to get it. I was close," he told us.

"But I didn't get it. They said that I was a little too dark for the role. It just crushed my little heart. There's not a lot of black superheroes in the comic book lexicon, so I felt like the doors were closing..."

A key role in this year's Marvel blockbuster Black Panther also eluded him. "I'd gone in for M'Baku, but again, that guy [Winston Duke] killed it. I couldn't even imagine doing that," he revealed.

"I went, through, like... who else can I be play? I thought Spawn, or maybe Blade? It ended up being a month between not getting Black Lightning and this audition [for Luke Cage]."

Bushmaster first appeared in a 1977 issue of Iron Fist, with Shakir playing a tweaked version of the original character John McIver, a powerful crime boss with superhuman strength. "I was lightly familiar with him. I knew of him. The first one that came to mind, though, was his brother."

The second Bushmaster – introduced in the 1980s – was John's younger brother Quincy, a villain equipped with bionic arms and a snake-like tail. "I thought I was going up for the mechanical snake dude!" Shakir admitted. "I was like, 'Really?! How is this going to go over?'"

Shakir promised that Luke Cage fans will "really get to know" his version of Bushmaster when the second season drops, hinting at a longer life for the character than his predecessor Cottonmouth enjoyed.

"I stick around for a good portion of it. It's not as premature. You don't feel cheated, at all," he said.

Having finally achieved his long-held ambition of playing in the comic book sandbox, Shakir said he's now enthusiastic about the prospect of "real change" in the future.

Until now, he says black actors have often faced "the shit end of the stick" and been cast in unfulfilling parts. But in the years to come, he thinks that more dynamic roles – including in superhero blockbusters – might not be as hard to come by.

"I loved watching Superman as a kid, but I can't imagine, if Superman looked like me, what that would have done for me as a child," he said.

"So I think representation is huge – and if you really understand how the markets work, it's just wise. If money is the bottom line, then you want to play with that a little bit more.

"We have exhausted the stories that we can tell, [with] the way that the media was set out before. It was very one-sided and there was an inauthenticity that came with it. The success of Black Panther, the success of many of these vehicles, is because that's what people want to see... an actual reflection of our reality.

"On the heels of Black Panther, I'm sure there'll be a black female led franchise, and hopefully gay and trans [characters], so that all people can feel represented."

Luke Cage season 2 comes to Netflix this Friday (June 22).

Avengers: Infinity War writers say DC's movie plans are like "spaghetti being thrown at the wall"

Sunday 17 June 2018

Ever since Marvel first started their shared universe and had huge success with that, every other movie studio has wanted a piece of that pie.

DC, being the other comics giant with a billion superheroes to choose from, have tried to emulate that success with mixed results.

What can DC and Warner Bros do to sort themselves out? What better people to ask than Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, the writers of Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking to Kevin Smith on his 'Fat Man on Batman' podcast, Markus said: "I would look at what Marvel did out of necessity in that they didn't have their A-list characters.

"They didn't have Spider-Man, they didn't have the X-Men, and they went down the line and found a – I mean, he's pretty f**king famous, he's Iron Man, but he wasn't then – and they made a really good movie out of him.

"I might put Batman and Superman and everybody else, I mean Wonder Woman is doing fine, aside for a second, go through the vast world and go, 'That guy' or 'That girl,' and go, 'Let's just make a really good movie and not a universe and see what happens.'

"There's a lot of spaghetti being thrown at the wall."

When asked about Avengers 4, McFeely said that the film has been shot, and the team is assembling to get back to work on it: "It's not due for a while. There's time for reshoots and fixing and we're just scrubbing through it now.

"The Russo brothers have been in there for a few weeks now after the press tour and all that."

Avengers: Infinity War is now the fourth highest grossing movie of all time, having broke $2 billion at the box office, while last year's Justice League was the worst-performing DC film at the box office.

Avengers 4 will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019, and in the US on May 3, 2019.

DC's Titans TV Show Set Photo Reveals The Bat Signal

Saturday 16 June 2018

The latest set photo from DC's Titans TV show has revealed the Bat signal. It's increasingly clear that the upcoming series will be heavily influenced by the Batman mythos.

Set to air on the upcoming DC Universe streaming service, Titans is a live-action series starring Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. The plot is still under wraps, although a range of secondary characters have been confirmed, including Curran Walters as Jason Todd, Hawk and Dove (with an eye for the duo getting a spinoff), and even reportedly Wonder Girl.

Although the confirmed cast includes a number of members of the Bat-family, this is another indication the series will actually explore Gotham City. It's possible other Bat-related characters will appear too, perhaps even members of the Dark Knight's rogues' gallery. One major possibility is Deathstroke, a mercenary who played a major role in several of the Titans' most famous stories. Deathstroke made his DC Film debut in last year's Justice League, but there has been no mention of further plans for the assassin.

Warner Bros. recently began a marketing push for the still-mysterious DC Universe streaming service that suggests the service will launch later this year, presumably with all the live-action and animated shows - including Titans - available pretty much straight away. Fans are eager to learn more about DC's digital offerings, which could include everything from a library of DC superhero movies to a possible digital catalog of the comics. DC Comics' main rival, Marvel, has until recently been ahead of the game when it comes to digital copies of the comics, so it would certainly be exciting to see DC catch up.

The first-ever live-action Titans series is sure to be one of the streaming service's highlights, along with the much-demanded third season of Young Justice. Equally exciting is an animated Harley Quinn series, inspired by the character who Jim Lee has described as the "fourth pillar" of the DC universe, alongside Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The live-action Metropolis series, a Superman prequel concept that raised a few eyebrows, is currently believed to have been delayed.

With the live-action series clearly progressing well, it can't be long before we have more information about the DC Universe streaming service - hopefully including a sense of the full content list.

Titans is expected to premiere on DC Universe later this year.

Emma Lahana's Role on Cloak and Dagger Is More Badass Than You Realise

Friday 15 June 2018

Freeform's Cloak & Dagger already has us hooked, but now we have yet another reason to tune in every week: enter Emma Lahana. The 33-year-old New Zealand actress plays Brigid O'Reilly, a detective on a mission to track down Tandy (Olivia Holt) for a crime she committed. Although the troubled teen was protecting herself from sexual assault, O'Reilly is unaware of the circumstances initially which naturally complicates things. On the surface, this might sound like your typical episode of Law & Order: SUV, but that's where you'd be wrong.

In the comics, O'Reilly's character is much more powerful than you think. In fact, she becomes a superhuman just like Tyrone (Cloak) and Tandy (Dagger) after trying — and ultimately dying — to avenge the sketchy men who gave the teens their powers in the first place. Following her resurrection, O'Reilly goes by Mayhem and fights as a vigilante alongside Cloak and Dagger. Her superpowers include a venomous gas which seeps from her pores. The gas paralyzes her victims for an unknown amount of time, according to her Marvel bio. The powerful gas also serves as a "truth serum," which compels those in her path to tell the truth. O'Reilly also has other cool abilities such as levitation and flight.

If Lahana herself looks familiar, it's because she's already made a name for herself on the small screen. Fans may recognise her from shows like Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis, or The L Word, but her most famous role would be as Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers S.P.D. and Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. Lahana took a five-year break from acting in 2013, but now she's back to chase down bad guys in Cloak & Dagger. As we wait to get to know more about her character, and whether her role will play out just like the comics, it's safe to say fans are excited to see Lahana back on their screens.

'Shadowhunters' Fans Have Raised Over $9K and Collected Over 110K Signatures to Save the Show

Thursday 14 June 2018

Last week, Freeform cancelled Shadowhunters after just three seasons much to the shock and disappointment of fans. Now, fans have gathered signatures in an attempt to save the series and are raising money for charity in its name.

A petition on Change.org urging that fans speak out and get Freeform -- or another network or streaming service -- to save the series has hit over 110,000 signatures in just over a week. The petition's creator wrote on its page that fans need to not just sign the petition but take it to social media as well. You can read the description below.

Shadowhunters just got announced that its being canceled please please PLEASE if you have any love for this show sign this petition make it known retweet it share it on Facebook snap Instagram do whatever you have to do to make this petition known I will not rest until my show that saved me is saved. It saved me once now it’s time for me to save it please help me do that.

It's not just social media campaigns and petitions, either. Fans have also started a charity campaign benefitting The Trevor Project, an organization devoted to providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention to LGBTQ youth. As of the time of this article, the fundraiser has reached just over $9,000 in donations.

"Currently fans are working hard on a #SaveShadowhunters campaign, but we thought it would be useful to channel some of our passion and frustration to raise awareness and also showcase the generosity of the Shadowhunters fandom," the fundraiser's description reads. "Let's show off the power of our fandom to do good."

The show is currently on mid-season hiatus in year three and when the show returns, it will end with a 12-episode wrap-up. Freeform is giving the series a two-hour finale to close out the fan-beloved series and, according to the network, the decision to cancel the series had nothing to do with ratings. Instead, Programming and Development EVP Karey Burke said last week that Shadowhunters cancellation was an unfortunate result of a strategic shift at Freeform that ultimately hit the economics of the series.

Burke explained that Freeform had shifted towards ordering shows in smaller batches, a decision that resulted in the end of a Netflix output deal with Constantin Film, the network's co-production partner. Without Netflix's investment, Constantin looked to Freeform for more money, something they couldn't make work.

"We went back and forth with them, but ultimately we just couldn't make the economics work," Burke said. "We were very happy creatively with it."

Despite fan efforts to save the show, thus far there's been no news of another network or streaming service showing interested in the series. However, series star Katherine McNamara told fans at Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne last weekend that there are still those final episodes to look forward to and that they would be the "amazing".

"If the [hashtags] make a difference, amazing, if not, we've got 10 more amazing episodes and we're going to shoot the most kick-ss finale you've ever seen," McNamara said.

Marvel Studios Boss "Won't Rule Out" Marvel TV Crossovers

When Marvel expanded from the cinematic universe onto television with Agents of SHIELD, there was a lot of potential for crossovers between the big and small screens. But those two worlds have grown further and further apart over the years, with sporadic mentions or references here and there.

But Marvel Studios President Kevin Fegie isn't shutting the door on characters such as Luke Cage or Jessica Jones appearing in the Avengers movies, as he said at the Produced By Conference 2018 in Los Angeles.

"I don't rule anything out," Feige said at the event, leaving the possibility open that the Defenders and other characters could appear in an Avengers movie.

The producer is currently working on Captain Marvel with directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who are introducing Brie Larson's title character in the '90s. The film will also bring back Samuel L. Jackson as a younger Nick Fury, as well as Clark Gregg returning to the MCU as Phil Coulson for the first time since Marvel's the Avengers.

Coulson has appeared in five seasons of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD since then, which has basically been ignored by the Marvel Studios releases.

Gregg previously spoke about appearing in Captain Marvel during a conversation with ComicBook.com.

"That was a fun call from my friends in the Cinematic Universe," said Gregg, "who I normally see at these events, saying, ‘You know, we think once again we have some work for you, but it takes place in the '90s. Can you go to the gym?’ Yeah, I said, ‘The '90s? I mean, there is no gym that can get me back to the '90s.’ And they said, ‘Well, don't worry. We've been working on that technology, and we think we can goose you back a few years.’"

The most recent Marvel Studios movie put every TV series in a hard place moving forward, as Thanos' finger snap wiped out half of all living life in the universe.

Marvel Television executive Jeph Loeb revealed the shows would take place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War while participating in a Reddit Ask Me Anything event.

"For the most part our stories will take place BEFORE Thanos clicked his fingers." Loeb wrote. "A lot of that has to do with production and when we are telling our stories vs. when the movies come out. So hang in there. I remember in the comics, one of my favorite stories was the KREE-SKRULL war... which was universal, but in X-Men, no mention. Huh. And it all worked out in the end!"

Captain Marvel premieres in theaters on March 8, 2019.

Luther's Ruth Wilson is the latest big name to join BBC's His Dark Materials

Monday 11 June 2018

Luther and The Affair star Ruth Wilson is the latest big name to join the BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials.

Wilson will be starring as protagonist Marisa Coulter, a former lover of Lord Asriel (James McAvoy), according to Deadline.

Coulter is one of the main characters in Philip Pullman's trilogy, and is described as a beautiful 35-year-old in the third novel, The Amber Spyglass. Her relationship with main character Lyra (Dafne Keen) – an orphan who travels to a parallel universe – is one of the main strands of the story.

News of Wilson's casting comes after McAvoy was confirmed for the part of Lord Asriel, the adventurer/father of Lyra.

Clarke Peters has also signed onto the eight-part first series, playing the master who raises Asriel's curious child. You may recognise Peters from his appearances in The Wire and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda has been cast as balloonist and adventurer Lee Scoresby.

Pullman has previously spoken about his experience working on the series with writer Jack Thorne, saying: "I've greatly enjoyed talking to him and learning about his plans for bringing His Dark Materials to the screen.

"I'm certain he'll do a superb job, and I look forward to seeing the whole project develop as he shapes the story."

Shadowhunters star Katherine McNamara opens up about a possible revival following axing and fan outcry

Fans of the Mortal Instruments TV adaptation Shadowhunters were devastated last week when it was announced that the show would end after the completion of its third and current season.

These last few weeks have seen the miraculous un-cancellations of both Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Expanse, thanks to other content providers jumping in and snapping up the rights. Lucifer's leading man Tom Ellis has also revealed there have been 'talks' to save that show, so could the same thing happen here?

Star Katherine McNamara sure hopes so. The Clary Fray actress apparently told fans at Melbourne's Oz Comic-con that she has her fingers crossed another network picks the show up.

"I would love that!" she is quoted as saying. "I love the show and I would love to finish it out. Hopefully your tweets will encourage something to happen.

"If [the hashtags] make a difference, amazing. If not, we've got 10 more amazing episodes in the can and we're gonna shoot the most kickass finale you've ever seen."

Karey Burke, EVP of Programming and Development for Freeform, explained the cancellation by saying: "We went back and forth with (production company Constantin Film) but ultimately we just couldn't make the economics work.

"We were very happy creatively with it."

Shadowhunters will return in 2019 with 12 episodes left to air and a two-episode special finale. Netflix airs the show in the UK.

Doom Patrol TV Series Coming To DC Universe in 2019

Sunday 10 June 2018

Just a week after the upcoming DC Universe streaming service announced that a live-action Swamp Thing series would be joining their line-up of shows, DC has announced another new series to premiere on their platform in 2019, an adaptation of the classic super team The Doom Patrol. The brand new series is coming from DC-TV guru Greg Berlanti, along with DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns,  and together with producers Jeremy Carver and Sarah Schechter. Below is DC’s logline for the series. as well as the series’ first official logo:

“Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.”

With the DP first set to appear on episode five of Titans, it would be safe to assume that the main actors cast for these characters on that show will be returning to the roles for their own series. This official synopsis for the series also gives us some tantalizing clues for what to expect not only from this series, but Titans as well. First off, a brief history of Doom Patrol for those unfamiliar with the comic book series. The Patrol dates back to 1963, and was a DC book about a wheelchair bound genius who gathers together a group of freaks and outcasts and turns them into a superhero team trained to defend a world that fears them. While this may sound like an X-Men knock off, the DP actually hit newsstands a good several months before the X-Men’s first issue did. Both series were niche comics in the ’60s, but in the ’70s, the X-Men revival became one of the biggest books of all time. Meanwhile, several attempts to revive the Doom Patrol never really clicked…until the ’90s that is.

Writer Grant Morrison, later known for his psychedelic comics like The Invisibles and Animal Man, wrote a Doom Patrol series that was unlike anything that anyone had ever seen in a superhero team book at the time. Although he kept certain key characters from the original run, like the Chief and Robotman, he added bizarre new characters like the intersex hero Rebis, and most notably, Crazy Jane. Jane was a woman with 64 different personalities, each with its own unique super power. The addition of Jane alone propelled Doom Patrol into becoming one of the wildest and most imaginative comics published by DC in the ’90s. Ever since Morrison’s run, other versions of the teaml have come and gone, including one running right now from Gerard Way, but his remains the gold standard. The inclusion of Crazy Jane in the line-up means that they are likely heavily drawing from Morrison’s run, with a healthy dose of the original ’60s incarnation as well.

One more thing the synopsis mentions that is worth noting for Titans fans: it mentions that the team is called to action by Cyborg. Now, Cyborg is one of the founding members of the New Teen Titans in the comics, and a big part of the team from the animated series. Because of his use in the DCEU, where he is played by Ray Fisher, it was thought that the character was off limits to the TV branch of DC Entertainment, but this suggests otherwise. This means there is a good chance Cyborg will appear on Titans alongside Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Wonder Girl, which should make longtime fans thrilled.

Are you excited about this off-kilter DC series making it to live-action? Could it become the wildest comic based show since Legion? Be sure to let us know your thoughts down below in the comments.

Luke Cage Season 2 episode titles Revealed!

Saturday 9 June 2018

Marvel's Luke Cage creator and showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has revealed all of the episode titles for season two.

Prior to Luke Cage's return this month, Cheo simply tweeted the titles of the thirteen episodes, which are as follows:

1. Soul Brother #1

2. Straighten It Out

3. Wig Out

4. I Get Physical

5. All Souled Out

6. The Basement

7. On and On.

8. If It Aint Rough, It Ain't Right

9. For Pete's Sake

10. The Main Ingredient

11. The Creator

12. Can't Front On Me

13. They Reminisce Over You

The titles are taken from tracks on Pete Rock & CL Smooth's 1992 debut album Mecca and the Soul Brother and its 1994 follow-up The Main Ingredient, with Cheo also clarifying that he wasn't ranking his favourite tracks in a follow-up tweet.

The second season of Marvel's Luke Cage – which follows Luke after he managed to clear his name and become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem – will include much of the same that made its debut season a success, though fans can expect a few changes to the feel of it all.

Addressing the show's dip in popularity following the switch from Mahershala Ali's villain Cottonmouth, lead actor Mike Colter previously confirmed that season two will take "a different approach".

"[The first season] was a great try," he said. "Some people enjoy the full season. Some really felt the second part was not as strong as the first. And I get both."

Also calling the Netflix show's success "commendable", Mike added: "You've got to take a chance to make your series different... If people thought it was a miss, that's fine."

Season two of Marvel's Luke Cage will premiere on Netflix on June 22.

Fox's X-Men spin-off series The Gifted is adding a new cast member to their ranks with actress Grace Byers in season two.

The star, who recently exited Empire, will play the role of Reeva, likely an adaptation of the comics character Reeva Payge - who at one point was a member of the New York Hellfire Club's Inner Circle in Marvel Comics lore.

In the Fox series, she is described as a "smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people".

"She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits," Marvel added, "but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision."

In The Gifted, the villainous Reeva will team up with Polaris, Andy Strucker and the Frost sisters.

Interestingly, Reeva has the power in the comics to generate a distinctly high note with her voice that distorts the perception of reality to those affected, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out on screen.

The Gifted follows an ordinary couple who are forced to go on the run from the government once they discover that their two children possess mutant powers, and the family seek help from an underground network of mutants.

While no release date has been confirmed yet, we do know that cast members Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White will return as the Strucker family.

The Gifted is expected to return later this year on Fox. International off-shoot FOX airs the show in the UK.

Marvel TV boss wants to bring back Agent Carter

Friday 8 June 2018

A Marvel TV boss has refused to rule out a possible return for the axed Agent Carter.

The drama, which starred Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter in 1940s America, was cancelled by ABC in 2016 after two seasons.

But, commenting on a Reddit Ask Me Anything, Jeph Loeb hinted that a revival could be on the cards if there was a network interested in picking it up.

"Wouldn't that be cool?" he said. "Find us a network! Hayley has been kind of saying she'd love to come back."

Atwell previously shared why ABC cancelled Agent Carter, saying that neither she nor Marvel wanted the show to end.

"I think it was just a network economical thing," she said, mentioning that her other ABC drama Conviction was seen to be more profitable.

"It's a shame the network cancelled it and wanted to put me in something more mainstream. [The network thought], 'Let's put Hayley Atwell in something more mainstream that's less genre-specific and see if we can get higher ratings'. And unfortunately, that isn't, as an actor, anything I've got control over."

Peggy Carter fans can see her as Captain America in the Marvel comics. Written by Saladin Ahmed and Javier Rodriguez, Exiles explores alternative Marvel realities and allows us to see established heroes in brand new situations.

‘Shadowhunters’ Canceled by Freeform

Freeform has canceled supernatural drama series “Shadowhunters.” The show will end with a special two-hour final at the close of the upcoming second half of season three.

“We are very proud of ‘Shadowhunters,’ a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite,” the network said in a statement. “However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending. The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Films. Todd Slavkin, Darren Swimmer, McG, Matt Hastings, Mary Viola, Martin Moszkowicz and Robert Kulzer serve as executive producers. The second half of the show’s third and final season — which will consist of 12 all-new episodes — is slated to premiere in spring 2019
