X-Men spin-off The Gifted season 2 casts Empire star as Marvel Comics character

Fox's X-Men spin-off series The Gifted is adding a new cast member to their ranks with actress Grace Byers in season two.
The star, who recently exited Empire, will play the role of Reeva, likely an adaptation of the comics character Reeva Payge - who at one point was a member of the New York Hellfire Club's Inner Circle in Marvel Comics lore.
In the Fox series, she is described as a "smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people".
"She leads an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits," Marvel added, "but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision."
In The Gifted, the villainous Reeva will team up with Polaris, Andy Strucker and the Frost sisters.
Interestingly, Reeva has the power in the comics to generate a distinctly high note with her voice that distorts the perception of reality to those affected, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out on screen.
The Gifted follows an ordinary couple who are forced to go on the run from the government once they discover that their two children possess mutant powers, and the family seek help from an underground network of mutants.
While no release date has been confirmed yet, we do know that cast members Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White will return as the Strucker family.
The Gifted is expected to return later this year on Fox. International off-shoot FOX airs the show in the UK.
